Hisanori Masuda is well-known far beyond the borders of his home country, Japan.
His art is impressively functional, combining the beauty of traditional Japanese casting art with modern elements of simple elegance. High-quality materials such as iron, aluminium and bronze form the basis of his work.
Many of his designs are of such high artistic value that they have already been exhibited in prestigious exhibitions at the National Museum of Australia, Victoria and Albert Museum of London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Los Angeles Craft Museum.
The artist designs and produces his pieces in his own studio ‘Chushin Kobo’ in the Japanese prefecture of Yamagata and teaches art and design at the University of Tohoku.
