Se trata de una planta herb\u00e1cea anual perteneciente a la familia de las api\u00e1ceas, anteriormente conocida como umbel\u00edferas.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Su origen se sit\u00faa en el valle del Nilo, aunque su cultivo se extendi\u00f3 hace mucho tiempo por el Mediterr\u00e1neo oriental, el norte de \u00c1frica, India, China y Am\u00e9rica, donde lo llevaron los exploradores espa\u00f1oles.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">De hecho, los romanos lo utilizaban como hoy usamos la pimienta, y con el tiempo pas\u00f3 a integrarse en cocinas regionales muy diferentes.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eso explica una de sus grandes virtudes comerciales. El comino no pertenece a una sola tradici\u00f3n culinaria, sino a muchas. Funciona en tisanas, como especia en recetas del d\u00eda a d\u00eda y tambi\u00e9n en propuestas m\u00e1s especializadas. El comino da estructura al sabor. Redondea las legumbres, levanta las carnes, acompa\u00f1a especialmente bien a la cebolla, la berenjena, el arroz, las patatas, el cordero y las lentejas, y se integra muy bien con otras especias como cilantro, canela, clavo, c\u00farcuma, jengibre, piment\u00f3n, hinojo, ajo u or\u00e9gano.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tambi\u00e9n es una especia que pide equilibrio. Si se dosifica bien, aporta profundidad. Si se usa en exceso, puede opacar el resto de ingredientes.
