10 ingredients for a better immune system


When people are sniffing and coughing in the subway, the office and the checkout line, it is a clear sign for autumn. With these treasures you can strengthen your immune system and avoid the one or other cold.

1. Ginger

The ginger tuber has been awarded the title of medicinal plant of the year 2018 in Germany. For centuries it has not only been a popular seasoning. Especially in traditional Chinese medicine and Ayurveda, it has been regarded as a versatile healing tuber for a long time. In particular, its spicy substances heat the body and stimulate blood circulation and the immune system.

2. Lemon

Who doesn't know it, the hot lemon with a teaspoon of honey? As a special preventive measure, the southern fruit helps us to prepare ourselves against colds in the cold season. It is rich in vitamin C, magnesium, potassium and calcium and thus strengthens our immune system. However, vitamin C is sensitive to heat. If possible, do not infuse the lemon with boiling water, just with hot water.

3. Camomile

Among the top household remedies for colds is, of course, chamomile. It has particularly gentle and effective properties in the fight against headaches, neck pain and aching limbs. An infusion of the sweet flowers of camomile plants can inhibit inflammatory processes and activate the immune system.

4. Peppermint

Peppermint tea is one of the most popular household remedies for colds. The essential peppermint oil has a liberating effect on the respiratory tract and also disinfects. Already the fragrant scents of the infusion calm the respiratory tract and fill the body with a pleasant warmth.

5. Eucalyptus

The eucalyptus tree is a true survivor who lives in barren, warm regions. Its leaves are rich in essential oils, including cineol. This oil is particularly flattering to our bronchi and sinuses and is able to free throat and nose.

6. Fennel

The seeds of fennel in particular contain valuable essential oils, minerals and vitamins. This makes fennel tea known for its positive effect on many complaints. Also for neck, head and nose the infusion of fennel seeds lures with its gentle, sweet spice and its strength for vitalization.

7. Aniseed

The beautiful star with its small seed capsules has it in itself. Aniseed unfolds its full potential in colds and coughs thanks to the essential oils it contains. Tasty, gently warming and soothing, aniseed is also well appreciated by children. 

8. Thyme

The popular Mediterranean spice hides excellent properties for colds: the leaves and flowers of the plant contain the substances thymol and carvacrol, which have antibacterial, antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory effects. The infusion of thyme also has a wonderful summer scent, warming the soul and fighting the cold.

9. Lime blossoms

The lime blossom has a lot to offer for our health and is also fragrant and tasty. With a rough throat, the infusion is the perfect companion throughout the day. The ingredients of the lime blossom should alleviate sore throats and soothe the irritation of the cough.

10. Balm

Since it is said to have a healing effect in many ways, the balm plant has been cultivated for a long time in monastery gardens in Central Europe. Balm is considered particularly valuable because of its antibacterial, calming and antispasmodic properties. Its smell is reminiscent of lemon, which is why it is also called lemon balm.
